About BLUNAVIS

Shaping the Future of Regional Air Cargo

BLUNAVIS is an independent aerospace initiative focused on the development of innovative solutions for the future of regional air cargo transportation.

Driven by the ambition to address the evolving demands of global logistics, the project explores new approaches to aircraft design, aviation technology and air cargo operations, with a particular emphasis on efficiency, operational flexibility and accessibility.

At the centre of this vision is the development of a new generation of unmanned cargo aircraft, conceived to address the needs of regional and middle-mile logistics networks.

Overview

BLUNAVIS is an independent aerospace project developing the BN-1X family of uncrewed cargo aircraft. The work is at concept stage. BLUNAVIS is in the process of incorporation.

The family has two variants on one airframe. The civil BN-1X is for regional logistics: short-field operations from conventional and less-developed airports, with front-door loading for standardised units and bulk cargo. The tactical BN-1XM is for military, government and civil protection agencies. It adds local reinforcement, a rear cargo door for offload and airdrop, and more powerful turboprops for short take-off and landing.

The ambition is practical. The aircraft are designed around established cargo handling, compatible loading units and conventional ground equipment, so they can enter existing networks. The same architecture is intended to reach places that regional freight serves poorly today, including austere locations.

BLUNAVIS envisions a programme that moves from these studies to a certifiable aircraft and a durable industrial base, with civil logistics and tactical air transport served by one family.

The programme

The BLUNAVIS project is focused on uncrewed regional cargo aircraft. Two variants are currently in development: the BN-1X, intended for civil cargo operations, and the BN-1XM, a tactical variant.

Both variants are built around a common airframe architecture. The BN-1XM incorporates local structural reinforcement to accommodate a rear cargo door, supporting tactical cargo offload and airdrop operations.

This common-airframe approach provides a shared engineering foundation while accommodating different operational requirements and mission profiles.

Operational versatility and cargo integration

The BLUNAVIS aircraft family is being developed with a strong emphasis on operational versatility and integration into existing air cargo infrastructure.

The aircraft concepts are designed around established cargo handling principles, with the objective of accommodating current cargo standards, standardised loading units and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) commonly used across the air freight industry.

By leveraging existing ground handling practices, cargo handling systems and standardised loading equipment, BLUNAVIS aims to facilitate integration into established logistics networks while minimising the need for dedicated ground infrastructure.

This approach is intended to provide operational flexibility across different cargo missions, facilities and operating environments, supporting a broad range of regional logistics and specialised transport requirements.

Our vision

We believe that the future of air cargo requires a new approach to regional aviation — one that combines advanced aerospace engineering, operational efficiency and emerging autonomous technologies.

Our ambition is to contribute to the evolution of the air logistics landscape by developing aircraft concepts and operational models designed around the needs of tomorrow’s supply chains.

Our approach

BLUNAVIS approaches aerospace development through an integrated perspective, bringing together aircraft architecture, engineering, industrial development and operational strategy.

The initiative is currently focused on concept development, technical studies, programme definition and the exploration of potential industrial and strategic partnerships.

Looking ahead

BLUNAVIS is at an early stage of development, laying the foundations for a long-term aerospace undertaking.

We believe that meaningful innovation requires a clear vision, rigorous engineering and the right industrial ecosystem. Our objective is to progressively transform this vision into a viable aerospace programme.
